Our Story

A working estate that
opens up for love.

Three generations of the Hartwell family have grown citrus, roses, and oysters on this stretch of Sarasota Bay.

In 2018, we restored the original 1927 main house and opened the gardens for ceremonies — slowly, on purpose. We host one wedding a weekend so the property is yours from Friday afternoon through Sunday brunch.

Every couple gets the same things: a coordinator who's been doing this for ten years, a kitchen that's seen a thousand rehearsal dinners, and a sunset over the bay that arrives at 7:48pm in October like it has somewhere to be.

What dates do you have available?

We're currently booking April 2026 through November 2027. Saturdays in October and April are our most requested — those tend to fill 14–18 months out. Weekday and off-season dates open up regularly.

Do you allow outside catering?

Yes — we have four preferred caterers we work with weekly, and you're welcome to bring in a caterer of your choice with a $750 outside-catering fee. We do have a full prep kitchen on-site, which makes things easier on whoever you choose.

Is there a venue minimum on top of the package?

No food & beverage minimum from us — that's between you and your caterer/bar service. The package price is the venue fee.

Can our guests stay on-site?

The Estate Weekend package includes our two cottages, which sleep 12 between them. We also have partnerships with three nearby hotels who block rooms for our couples at a discount.

What if it rains?

You move into the Hartwell Ballroom, which is plan B for everyone. We make the call together by 10am the day of, and we've never had a couple regret it.
